Anthropomorphism: Moe and Joe

Assignment:  write a poem using anthropomorphism (“attribution of human form or behaviour to a deity, animal” – Dictionary.com):___________________________

Moe, brother to Joe.
Joe, brother to Moe.

They look similar, familiar,
Yet personality-wise, they differ.

“Joe, move!”
Joe moves. Moe eats.

“Moe, you are lazy.
Watch owner Jay select me.
Everytime.”

Joe plows and works,
Setting the example
for his bullying brother.

Moe moans and laments,
As he heard the compliments
Given to his model of behavior,
Wishing to be the saviour.

When all work is completed,
To the paddock they return.
     -For Moe had been restricted,
-For his imput was not enlisted.

Joe receives his reward
      thankful for the sweet treat.

Moe stands facing toward
the pasture in quiet defeat.

Will Moe ever learn
That bullying’s reward
Means being left behind?

Not this time.

“Crunch! Crunch!” comments Joe
Swishing his tail in slow-mo.
